Update on Visa Interview Waiver (As of September 2025)

The United States Department of State has released new updated information on the nonimmigrant visa interview waiver.

The general visa interview waiver policy announced last month remains unchanged, but H-2A visa renewals have been added to the visa interview eligibility. This update will be effective October 1, 2025.

As a general rule, all nonimmigrant visa applicants (including applicants under 14 years old and over 79 years old), except applicants applying for diplomatic or official visas, B1/B2 visas, and H-2A visa renewals, will be required to have a face-to-face visa interview with a consular officer.
